Mike Minutelli, Principal
Mike is an alumnus of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida and a Georgia Tech graduate with a degree in Construction Management from the College of Architecture. Mike began his construction career working for Brasfield & Gorrie, one of the largest privately held general contractors in the US. As a lead project manager, Mike worked in both the Office/Retail and Healthcare divisions of Brasfield & Gorrie, completing a variety of projects including a $30 million high-rise medical office building, 16 story $45 million office building and a $55 million continuous care retirement community.
In 2004, Mike expanded his career beyond commercial construction by becoming a Partner and Vice President with The Macauley Companies; an Atlanta-based residential development company that specializes in large, master-planned communities. While at Macauley, Mike served as the General Manager for a number of master-planned communities overseeing all aspects of the community including land development, infrastructure improvements, golf course construction and clubhouse construction. Mike was also responsible for overseeing the financial management and planning of these communities and coordinating the sales and marketing efforts.
Mike is one of the founding Principals of The Macallan Group. Mike's role within the Macallan organization includes managing the operational and financial oversight of the company while at the same time focusing on new business opportunities. Given his strong background in construction, Mike also provides project management and field support on a project by project basis.
James L. Rhoden III, Principal
An Atlanta native, Jay holds B.A., Juris Doctor, and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Florida. Despite his educational background in law, Jay's entire career has focused on various aspects of commercial and residential real estate development. For the first five years of his career, Jay worked in the development group of Carter, an international, full-service commercial real estate firm based in Atlanta. His responsibilities at Carter included high rise office development throughout the Southeast with a focus on pre-development of multiple new deals through leadership of proposal and analysis / due diligence teams on both fee and equity build to suit opportunities. Significant projects included managing all aspects of development of 850,000 sf of high and mid rise-office space in two build to suit office towers and a 2,500 car deck at BellSouth's Midtown Center in Atlanta ($260 Million budget). Jay left Carter in 2004 in order to serve as the lead development partner of Macauley, an Atlanta-based residential development company that specializes in large, master-planned communities. In this role, Jay oversaw due diligence for new opportunities ranging from several hundred to over five thousand acres as well as all project development activity on over 10,000 residential lots in the metro Atlanta area.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Jay is heavily involved in civic and community affairs and currently serves as a member of The Commerce Club Operating Board, the Urban Land Institute, and the Regional Civic League. He is also past President of The Commerce Club's New Century Forum and volunteers regularly as a Reserve Deputy for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office. Jay and his family reside in East Cobb and Jay is a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
Within the Macallan organization, Jay focuses on due diligence with respect to new deals, program management, legal issues, deal structures, and also serves as the Managing Broker of Macallan Properties, LLC. Jay is also a LEED Accredited Professional and focuses on sustainability and green aspects of various projects.
